Learn how authentic data collection and analysis allows us to engage students with the Standards for Mathematical Practice, especially “Model with Mathematics” and “Construct viable arguments and critique the reasoning of others”. Wading through messy data allows students to process and make sense of mathematical concepts and tools we need them to learn through interesting contexts. We’ll share activities used from our Algebra II, AP Statistics and Calculus classes, and share how can you incorporate data collection and analysis to your lessons to increase student engagement and understanding.
