In this session, teachers will explore the power of place value and different bases through James Tanton's Exploding Dots, and see amazing connections between the two. The journey will begin with the most basic ideas of counting/representation found in first grade and end with the beginning ideas of calculus--all with dots and for everyone!
In this session, teachers will get a deeper dive into the book Math Recess: Playful Learning in an Age of Disruption. In addition to exploring some of the math problems found in the book, Google Doc resources and chapter sketchnotes will also be shared with all participants!
In this commercial session, participants will about the Buzzmath digital platform and its interactive and immersive features. Specifically, everyone attending will play through one of the most prominent ones--The Missions. Teachers will get to experience learning about math history in a playful, but highly challenging and gamefied environment. Prepare to accept your mathematical Mission!
